Fifth Graders Learn Lifesaving Skills: CPR & AED Training

Wantagh Elementary fifth-grade students took a big step in learning how to save lives! In an engaging and hands-on training session, they were introduced to the basics of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
With guidance from a trained instructor from the Wantagh Fire Department, students practiced chest compressions on CPR mannequins, learning the importance of proper hand placement and rhythm. They also explored how an AED works, understanding when and how to use this critical device in an emergency.
In addition to learning the steps to administer CPR, the lesson emphasized the importance of staying calm, calling for help, and acting quickly in a crisis. Our young learners walked away with newfound confidence and a sense of responsibility—valuable tools that could one day make a life-saving difference.
